Hi.

I'm on the 4th month of following the CFL program and during this past month I've suddenly started getting cystic acne. You mentioned in your book that during the detox period the break outs should be significantly milder than normally so I'm wondering if this is an indication of something else, such as diet problems. Although even when I was eating unhealthy foods it wasn't normal for me to get cystic acne to this extent. Is that type of acne usually even indicative of wrong foods or is it more often to do with stress and other factors?

I'll post an example of what I eat in a day, just in case you might spot something that could be the cause (but note that I haven't really altered my diet at all since starting the program, so unless it's some kind of delayed reaction, I don't see how the foods could be responsible):

1st meal: about 100 gr of oatmeal with a table spoonful of flax seeds
2nd meal: about 100 gr of brown rice with 150 gr of chicken, frozen veggies
3rd meal: same as above but replace rice with either green lentils or quinoa
4th meal: either salmon (125 gr) or beef (150 gr) with either rice, green lentils or quinoa
miscellaneous: usually 2 to 3 bananas, one cup of green tea. Sometimes an additional portion of oatmeal if hungry before going to bed.

As for cooking methods, the frozen veggies I heat in a microwave (and a daily amount usually totals about half a kilo and includes cauliflower, spinach and broccoli). The meats I heat in an oven aside from the beef, which I cook on a pan without any oils.

Do you see anything that could use fixing? Am I eating too much meat perhaps?

edit: Apologies, I meant to post this in the diet section.

I don't think this has anything to do with detox. Frankly speaking, I'm not sure that such a thing as detox reaction even exists. I'll probably remove the whole chapter during the next update.

Your diet looks good. There are no big red flags there. It's probably not blood sugar related, but have you checked them?

Please think back little bit. What has changed in your life recently? Anything on the emotional side?

What about seasons? Think back the past years, has your acne varied by season?

Maybe it's the flax seeds? Whenever I eat something with soy or flax or fish oil I breakout because those 3 things have a lot of phytoestrogens, which mimic estrogen in the body which causes a hormonal imbalance. So I stay away from all that stuff.

Actually plant estrogens are very weak. They have barely any effect on the human body. This is just non-sense propagated by the Weston A. Price Foundation.

That said, soy is potentially allergenic. I've also heard from some people they get a bad reaction after eating flax seeds. I can't say how common flax seed problems are.
